Today, I salute 92-year-old Korean War Air Force Veteran Joseph Vespo. During his time in the Air Force, Vespo monitored aircraft systems from the cockpit. After his service, he pursued his childhood dream and became a pilot. For 40 years, he owned and flew Bonanza planes but had been unable to fly in recent years. His hospice care team learned of his wish to take to the air one more time, and with the help of a hospice care fund, the We Honor Veterans program, and a local pilot, they made it happen, and Joseph was all smiles. Enjoy the memories made on your special day, Joseph, and THANK YOU for your service.
