Today, the AWESOME is everywhere thanks to the national non-profit, Kindness 911. It’s a program where law enforcement issues kindness citations when they witness good things to help them build a deeper, stronger bond with the community they work in. The recipient shares their story online, and Kindness 911 donates to a charity in their honor. For example, in Oregon, Deputy Gregory responded to a unique call — an injured squirrel stunned in the middle of the road. Unable to leave her district to transport the animal to a wildlife hospital, she was approached by Susan and her son Sam, who offered to drive the squirrel more than 30 minutes to the rescue center. Their selfless compassion earned them a Kindness Citation — and a heartfelt thank-you from the deputy. Good deeds spreading a ripple of kindness, THAT’S AWESOME.
