Today, I salute Medal of Honor Recipient Ken David. On May 7, 1970, David’s unit came under intense enemy fire. When the platoon leader was killed, David handed off his radio and launched a fierce counterattack. Though vastly outnumbered, he held the line. David also left the safety of the perimeter to protect his wounded comrades. Fourteen people received the Purple Heart from that day, including Ken. Despite his Medal of Honor and maybe because of it, Ken continues to serve his fellow Veterans to this day. He is humble, he is caring, and he is ready to drop everything to help his fellow Veterans. That is why he has been named the DAV 2025 Veteran of the Year. Congratulations Ken and THANK YOU for your service.
