Today, the AWESOME is in Everett, Washington. At 13, Gauge Bryant was living his best summertime life at the lake with his aunt when a woman mentioned that she had seen a child fall into the water and lost sight of him. That child’s mother then frantically came running, saying he couldn’t swim. Without hesitation, Gauge dove in and started searching for the boy. The boy’s lifeless body was underneath the dock and had been underwater for about six minutes. Gauge found him, got him onto the dock, and began chest compressions until help arrived. He said he didn’t think and didn’t have time to be scared; he just reacted. It was that quick thinking that saved the life of that 11-year-old boy. The first thing Gauge did when he got home was to sign up to become CPR certified, and THAT’S AWESOME!
