Today, I salute Marine Veteran Dan Pelzer. Dan has done a couple of remarkable things. One, he served his country proudly. Two, starting in 1962, he kept a list of every book he ever read. It began with Alan Moorehead’s The Blue Nile and ended over 40 years later with Charles Dickens’ David Copperfield in 2023. The list of books was over 100 pages long, and he arranged to have a copy of that list sent to all who attended his funeral. While it was feasible, a website was created instead at what-dan-read.com, where people can scroll through a digitized version of the list, find some good titles to pick next, and receive an incredible glimpse into the life of an incredible reader. Thank you for creating an inspiring work to inspire others to read Dan, and THANK YOU for your service.
