Today, the AWESOME is in Utah. Jacob Schmitt was on a hunting trip in Utah when he lost control of the side-by-side he was driving, and it tumbled down a cliff, flipping over twelve times. Jacob was thrown out mid-fall and left with a broken leg, two fractured ankles, and several broken ribs. His phone and radio were lost in the wreck. Thankfully, his dog, Buddy, who was in his kennel, survived the crash, and when Jacob woke up, Buddy was by his side. Knowing he needed to move, Jacob splinted his leg and began the painful journey down the mountain, crawling 11 hours, through the night with faithful buddy by his side till he reached his vehicle. He then drove to a nearby diner and got help. Jacob spent 4 days in the hospital, making a full recovery, and credits Buddy for giving him the strength and determination to keep going. Proving time and time again why they are man’s best friend, and THAT’S AWESOME.
