Today, the AWESOME is found in Wyandotte, Michigan. It was one of the hottest days of the summer, and Officer Jonathan Cox and his K-9 partner, Jax, were on patrol when they saw an older woman pushing a lawn mower with one hand while keeping her balance with a walker in the other. He stopped and talked with the woman, Dory Oliver, who explained she didn’t have anyone to do it for her, and it’s becoming nearly impossible because of her mobility issues. Officer Cox told Dory to go inside. He finished his 12-hour shift, came back, and over two days transformed Dory’s property. She was deeply moved, calling it a blessing. She now calls him her adopted grandson, and Cox says he plans to help her maintain the yard in the future. Kindness, that builds lasting bonds, THAT’S AWESOME.
