Today, the AWESOME is in Salina. If you know the food truck scene in Salina, you are probably familiar with 805 Tacos. They just opened a brick-and-mortar location about two weeks ago, but it all started with a food truck in 2022. It was that food truck that caught fire last week, and the De Leon family was devastated. Shortly after the fire, Shelby Hermosillo launched a GoFundMe to help the family rebuild. “I thought of my family, my mother and father-in-law, and other people I know who have lost their business and didn’t have help,” Hermosillo said. The fundraiser has not only helped bring in money but new customers, too, and while 805 Tacos still has its restaurant, it hopes to have another food truck up and running soon, thanks to the kindness of customers and strangers, and THAT’S AWESOME.
