Today, the AWESOME is in Fort Montgomery, New York. One day after the Army football team suffered a tough loss to open their season, sophomore safety Larry Pickett Jr. pulled a stranger to safety after they crashed their vehicle. Pickett Jr. and his family were heading back from dinner when they witnessed a vehicle that had crashed and hung up in downed power lines off the side of the road. With powerlines and concerns that the vehicle might catch on fire, Larry and his dad didn’t hesitate to help in this life-threatening situation, risking their own lives to carefully pull the injured man out and away from his car. Being Army strong when he needed to be, THAT’S AWESOME.
We're proud of the heroic actions taken Saturday night by Cadet Larry Pickett Jr, a second-year cadet & @ArmyWP_Football player, & his father who are seen pulling a driver to safety in a video online taken by the family. Their actions are the embodiment of the @USArmy Values. pic.twitter.com/dlccTMwonT
