Today, the AWESOME is on the campus of LSU. If you have a dream, let 66-year-old Kent Broussard be your inspiration. In 1968, Kent was 9 years old when he attended his first Louisiana State University football game. “The Golden Band from Tigerland” marched onto the field playing songs that rang out in the Louisiana air. The music, movement, and pageantry of the college football band struck a permanent chord with Kent. That’s when he knew that someday he wanted to be in that band. Now 66, he remembers when he retired and told his family he was going back to school at LSU, and he was going to try out for the band. After relearning the tuba, he tried out and is now the oldest person to make the LSU marching band in 41 years. Best of all, he never gave up on his dream, and THAT’S AWESOME.
