Today, I salute military Mom Rosie Nanette Gangon. While you and I might not be able to wrap our heads around running 100 miles, Rosie can and has done it repeatedly. Why does she run so much? She does it in memory of her son Dexter. He was a Marine Corps Veteran who died by suicide in 2018. Rosie says, “Every time I’m out running… I feel like I’m sort of doing what he wanted to do. That I’m kind of like his feet or his voice.” Seven and a half years ago, Rosie took up the challenge to spread awareness about Veteran suicide, running 100 100-mile races in honor of Dexter and all military families affected by suicide. She will soon cross her final finish line, completing her 100th race next month. She says it’s been worth all the pain for the healing it brings. Thank you for helping other Veterans, Rosie, and to your son Dexter, THANK YOU for your service.
