Today, I salute Coast Guard Veteran Gaston Meredith, a.k.a ‘Chef G.’ Chef G’s passion for cooking started back in high school. Six months after graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard, and cooking was his perfect assignment. His brother was already in the Coast Guard, so Gaston decided to give it a shot. He took a culinary course with their school in California and served six years in the Coast Guard, taking with him lessons that still guide him to this day. Gaston says, “One thing I learned the most about being in the military is never quitting, endurance, and patience. That’s how I really contribute to my life today, as well as a chef.” Now, Chef G fires up the grill, making delicious sauces with local ingredients under the ‘Chef G’ brand. From the Coast Guard galley to backyard cookouts, Chef G proves that with patience, passion, and a good sauce, that’s all one needs to make dreams delectable.
