Today,
I salute U.S. Navy Veteran Dale Herron. Dale served 14 years and is now a board member with
Mission Outdoors, a nonprofit that supports military and first responder families. With the shutdown showing no signs of ending, Dale is leading an effort to hand out commissary gift cards to help service members and their loved ones buy groceries at local bases. Herron said commissary gift cards are critical because only people with military identification can use them on base — ensuring the donations reach those who need them. He added that the financial strain is hitting hard during the shutdown, especially for enlisted service members who already live on tight paychecks. Dale has already raised about $3,000 for gift cards and has plans to expand to other bases across Washington state. Thank you for helping others Dale and THANK YOU for your service.
