Today, I salute Air Force Veteran Shaun Tarkington. Born in Germany to a father in the U.S. Army, Shaun’s early years were shaped by military life overseas. He got his first brush with the American Red Cross when he was just 13 years old, after Mount Pinatubo in the Philippines erupted. Shaun and his family were stationed on a U.S. military base just 90 miles away. That set Shaun on a path that made stops at the Air Force Academy, becoming an officer, and after his service, becoming a firefighter and paramedic. He also volunteered with the Red Cross. Always driven to make a difference, Shaun has worked on over a dozen Red Cross national disaster relief operations. Thank you for being a helper Shaun and THANK YOU for your service.
