Today, the AWESOME is found right here in Wichita. With Christmas on everyone’s mind, the Yell Family are planning to celebrate Christmas a little earlier than everyone else and while many of us have a long wish list, their list contains only one thing – cards for 14-year-old AJ, a boy who loves Christmas and may be celebrating his last as he faces an uphill fight against terminal cancer. At birth, AJ was diagnosed with tuberous sclerosis, a condition that causes benign tumors to form around the internal organs and skin. Two years ago, AJ’s health problems became more complicated as he was diagnosed with Stage-Four PeComa, a rare and aggressive form of cancer. To make this Christmas the best Christmas for AJ, they are asking for Christmas cards for AJ, the’d like to get at least one from all 50 states. There is also a GoFundMe page established to help AJ’s family. When every Christmas card and every Christmas moment matters, THAT’S AWESOME.
