Today, I salute Marine Veteran Jonathan Hagerman. When Jonathan took up mountain biking after leaving the service, he wasn’t looking for a movement. He was looking for a way to breathe again. Just like many Veterans before him and those who will come after him, transition from serving to civilian life is filled with challenges and obstacles. Ironically, it was challenges and obstacles of a different kind that started something very special. Jonathan discovered mountain biking and, in turn, discovered clarity. That then led to the creation of The Dirt Therapy Project (TDTP), now one of the most dynamic outdoor-based Veteran programs in the country. What began with one Marine and one trail now helps hundreds of Veterans reconnect with purpose, community, and their own well-being. Thank you for helping other Veterans, Jonathan, and THANK YOU for your service.
