Today, I salute Army Veteran Andy Fontaine. Andy has always been a helper. He served nearly 8 years in the Army and eventually decided to return to school to become a licensed vocational nurse. He is also a self-taught guitarist. So when he learned The Salvation Army was looking for volunteer bell ringers for the Red Kettle program, he saw it as an opportunity to check off another to-do box: sing Christmas carols in public. In addition to bell ringing, he also works with a couple of church groups to feed the homeless, and goes to the state prison once a week as part of the Ebenezer Outreach fellowship. Sometimes he plays his guitar, reads scripture, and other times he just talks to the prisoners. Thank you for giving so much of yourself, Andy, and THANK YOU for your service.
