Today, the AWESOME is in Texas. A 22-year-old mother and her 8-month-old baby are recovering after their minivan crashed into a bayou outside of Houston last Thursday. The mom told first responders she struck a curb on a bridge, lost control of her vehicle, crossed several lanes of traffic, and plunged into the bayou. What could have been a devastating outcome took a hopeful turn almost immediately when a homeless man, who saw the crash, paddled his canoe out to the submerged vehicle and rescued both the mother and her baby, bringing them safely to shore. In a statement, the local police thanked the Good Samaritan for his “quick and selfless actions.” The man, hailed as a hero by officials, chose to remain anonymous. Being a selfless hero, THAT’S AWESOME.
