Today, the AWESOME is in Pennsylvania. Fourteen-year-old Briella Neidermyer has officially joined Garden Spot Fire Rescue as its newest junior firefighter, making her the youngest female currently serving at the station. Even more meaningful? She’s following in the footsteps of her dad, Kirk, a volunteer firefighter with 25 years of experience. While Dad never expected his little girl to show an interest in being a firefighter, she did, and he couldn’t be prouder. As a junior firefighter, she helps wherever she’s allowed — pulling hoses, assisting with hydrant hookups, and grabbing equipment crews need on scene. Growing bravery as a firefighter and a growing bond with her Dad, THAT’S AWESOME.
