Today, I salute Army Veteran Alex Silva Jr. Alex is a resident of Homestead, Florida, and the disabled Veteran and his family were in urgent need of a new roof for their home. Silva served six years in the Army, lives with his wife and kids, and suffers from Common Variable Immunodeficiency, a condition that requires biweekly in-home plasma treatments. Ongoing roof leaks had created unsafe living conditions that were negatively impacting his health, making the roof replacement especially critical. Despite his health challenges, Silva remains actively involved in helping fellow veterans alongside his father, a former Marine. Nominated by the Wounded Warrior Project, a partner of the team, on Jan. 23, Miami Dolphins alumni Troy Drayton, along with team cheerleaders and staff, surprised Alex and his family with the announcement of a free roof valued at $35,000.
