Today, I salute Army Veteran Thomas Merritt. Thomas spent over 20 years in the Army, proudly serving his country. Thomas says, “I joined the military to be a great patriot for my country. After five deployments and returning to civilian life, his service didn’t stop. Thomas signed on to continue his service here in Southwest Louisiana as a key member of Lake Charles law enforcement. He said, “Becoming a police officer, I wanted to give back to my community because this is where I grew up, and a lot of people in the community helped raise me.” Being a helper and finding ways to pay it forward is a way of life for Thomas. He wants to leave things better than he found them. Thomas says, “Be part of stuff. Volunteer. Give back to life instead of always taking from life.” Thank you for putting good out into the world, Thomas, and THANK YOU for your service.
