Today, the AWESOME is in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. According to Lawrence County Fire and Rescue, crews were notified of a structure fire shortly before 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19. When first responders arrived, they found a wooden home heavily involved in flames. The fire was so intense that it threatened nearby structures, including a mobile home less than 20 feet away. Before emergency personnel arrived at the scene, a 12-year-old child in the house made the 9-1-1 call and made the decision to rescue the 72-year-old handicapped woman inside. She told the 9-1-1 operator that the woman had burns on her neck as she made it outside safely. First responders treated both the elderly woman and the child at the scene before transporting them to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for further care. Fire officials said the girls heroic efforts saved the woman’s life…
