The tragic accident has dominated the news since last week. A group of teens toilet-papered the home of Jason Hughes, one of their favorite teachers, as a prank. He chased after them and was struck by one of the teens’ vehicles, eventually succumbing to his injuries. Now, the most remarkable part of the story: the Hughes family said he loved his students, “and they loved him too.” The family went on to say that they fully support “getting the charges dropped for all involved” and called what happened “a terrible tragedy.”

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Remember when the internet tried to make you believe there were sharks in flood waters in places like Houston? Some were fooled by the images; most were not. Well, Australia, being Australia, never lies about anything when it comes to all the things that can kill you. Due to intense flooding in the Northern Territory, the NT incident control acting commander, Shaun Gill, is telling people to stay out of the water because “There are crocs absolutely everywhere. ”

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

And when the prize is a barrel of ale, you take winning seriously. On Sunday, Teemu Touvinen and Jatta Leinonen from Finland were crowned the winners of the annual “Wife Carrying Race,” at 1 minute and 45 seconds. Their prize? A barrel of local ale. The awkward footrace in Dorking, Surrey is said to be inspired by a 19th-century Finnish legend about a gang that pillages villages and steals the women. Why not just steal the ale?
