Today, I salute over 100 women Veterans who yesterday headed to Washington, D.C., for the inaugural Flight of Honor, organized by the General Federation of Women’s Clubs. The group includes veterans from the Korean and Vietnam Wars, as well as more recent service members like Air Force veteran Melanie Levitz. Levitz, who served 12 years of active duty and 11 as a reservist, is eager to visit the Women’s Memorial for the first time. The itinerary features stops at the Lincoln Memorial, a special lunch at the Women’s Memorial, and witnessing the changing of the guard at Arlington National Cemetery. To all the women who made this flight, congratulations on being a part of history again, and THANK YOU for your service. (baynews9.com)
