Today, I salute Army Korean War Veteran James “Clarence” Floyd. Clarence helped launch Veteran-designated parking in Somerset, Kentucky, in 2016, later inspiring nationwide adoption by Lowe’s. After serving six years rebuilding the Korean DMZ, he returned home and spent decades supporting fellow Veterans. Floyd worked in trucking, served as a councilman, and led as an American Legion chaplain, organizing about 1,600 military funerals. He also mentored Veterans, helping them access VA benefits and improving local services. Honored with multiple awards, including induction into the Kentucky Veterans Hall of Fame, Floyd’s lifelong mission has been clear: serve and support Veterans long after his time in uniform ended. Thank you for giving life to a nationwide movement Clarence, and THANK YOU for your service.
