The Martinez family realized something was wrong when Honey was found severely injured the next morning, with evidence of a struggle across the land. Despite deep wounds, including a torn neck, she made it home and received emergency veterinary care with help from Española Humane. Honey faces a long recovery, but her actions likely protected the family and their animals. This unlikely, courageous hero is now affectionately called the “bear slayer,” despite the fact that she is scared of the family vacuum cleaner,
