Today, I salute Army Special Forces Veteran Mike Pintacura. K-9 Ryan, an 8-year-old Belgian Malinois who served seven years with the Greece Police Department in New York, is enjoying retirement after a serious knee injury during training. A skilled bomb detection and patrol dog, Ryan assisted in locating missing people, suspects, and explosives. Named after the late officer Richard Ryan, he underwent major surgery before being retired. Police carefully sought the right home, ultimately choosing retired Army veteran Mike Pintacura in Florida. Ryan has adjusted well, bonding with other dogs and enjoying space to roam. His main challenge now is learning to relax while continuing to recover from his injury. Even better, the widow of Officer Ryan lives in Florida and plans to visit K-9 Ryan, a dog she has met several times before. Thank you, Mike, for giving Ryan a great retirement home, and THANK YOU to you, K-9 Ryan, and Officer Ryan for your service.
