Today, the AWESOME comes from Poland. At 33, Kaedi Cecala was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome after years of low blood cell counts, requiring a stem cell transplant to survive. She entered the transplant system in August 2021 and, remarkably, found a perfect donor within two months—a young man in Europe. That donor, Karol Zwierzinski of Poland, selflessly agreed to help a stranger. After the successful transplant, the two initially knew little about each other, but later connected in 2025. Grateful for the life-saving gift, Cecala invited Zwierzinski to her wedding, and he accepted—turning a medical miracle into a meaningful lifelong connection.
