Today, I salute Army Veteran Owen McCurty. Owen lives in St. Cloud, Florida, and retired from the service, returning to civilian life in 2003. Shortly after, he was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease. His health gradually declined, eventually leading to dialysis and spending the last 6 years on the donor list, waiting for a miracle. That miracle came after his story was shared in a news report last November. Support poured in, including from a woman in Dallas, Texas, who ultimately stepped forward to become his donor. Both surgeries were successful, and McCurty is now recovering. He credits the media coverage for saving his life and hopes his story inspires others to become organ donors and help Veterans in need. Congratulations on this life-saving gift, Owen, and THANK YOU for your service.
