Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors billionaire MacKenzie Scott, who helped create Amazon, and the $100M dollars she donated to military and Veterans charities. This was all part of a larger sum of $3.9 billion dollars she is donating to 456 organizations as part of a pledge to give away at least half her fortune of tens of billions of dollars. The non-profits being helped say the money is transformative and will be used to expand programs to improve veterans’ mental health care, provide more educational opportunities and give veterans more chances to continue serving their communities, among other things.
