The Star Spangled Salute is brought to you by

Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors 56-year-old Air Force Veteran Fred Miller who was on a mission to buy a home in his hometown in Virginia, as a place that he and his large extended family could hold family gatherings. Little did he know, the house he was buying known as Sharswood, was once the seat to a plantation that enslaved his ancestors. At first when he bought the house, he began to research it’s history and soon realized the home was once the center of a 1300-acre plantation, but then after more digging Fred and his family uncovered a link to a great-great grandmother and soon they realized their anscestors were enslaved on that very property. It’s an incredible story, thank you for sharing it Fred and THANK YOU for your service.
