Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors “The Cap Man”, 87-year-old Army Veteran Gary Johnson. Gary served from 1951 to 1956 and said that journey took him to many places and through many experiences. Despite suffering a stroke, he is continuing to serve his country by giving back to fellow veterans. Calling it a “Veteran to Veteran” thing, Gary makes hats for other Veterans to wear proudly. All come with special patches and embellishments. He does it to keep busy and since 2018 has made and donated more than 500 caps to his beloved comrades receiving care at the local VA and those visiting the local air museum. Gary says with each cap he makes, it’s a way to let those Veterans know they will never be forgotten. Thank you Gary for your kindness and THANK YOU for your service.
