The Barton County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help identifying a man who has allegedly been using fraudulent checks several times across central Kansas.
Officials said that the man has reportedly been posing as a farmer or rancher at various farm stores, implement dealers, and parts houses, using a forged identification. They said that he then purchases expensive items using proper identification, but forged checks.
The Sheriff’s Office said that the man visited at least one retailer in Barton County along with other businesses in neighboring counties.
Several law enforcement agencies including the KBI are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to contact your local authorities.
