Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors 70-year-old Veteran Charles Rotramel .  There are a few days left in April, which is Donate Life month, and a perfect time for Charles to share his story about his new lease on life. Back in 2019 Charles started having trouble catching his breath and he knew something wasn’t right. He learned his heart was failing. After several proceedures and a wait of over a year, Charles finally got his new heart, this year on Valentine’s Day at St. Luke’s Hospital. Coincidentally, that was the same hospital he was born in, and now he got his 2nd start there too. Now, Charles and his doctor are raising awareness, hoping others can get a second chance too. “There are so many people that are waiting” Charles said. Doctors say by signing up to be an organ donor, you could give someone like Rotramel, the gift of life too.  Happy 2nd birthday Charles, thank you for raising awareness about organ donation and THANK YOU for your service.
