Severe thunderstorms moved through south central Kansas late Friday and early Saturday, with reports of winds up to 70 mph causing damage and power outages.
A line of storms moved through Reno, Kingman and Harper counties with 60 mile-an-hour winds in the city of Harper, causing downed tree limbs and power lines.
The line moved quickly into Harvey, Sedgwick, and Sumner counties with a wind gust of 58 miles an hour in Goddard and a 67 mile-an-hour gust at Eisenhower National Airport in Wichita.
Wind damage was reported in Belle Plaine, in Sumner County with power outages. A Kansas Highway Patrol trooper reported a wind gust of 70 miles an hour south of Murdock, in Kingman County, and the winds destroyed a shed and a chicken coop.
Westar Energy reported almost 8,000 customers without power after the storm in Harvey, Sedgwick, Sumner and Kingman counties.
There were no reports of large hail from the storms.
