There are two big stories this morning – Idol and the PGA Championship. First, American Idol

What’s not to love about Iam Tongi’s story.  It seems like his mistique and popularity grew with each song, not just each show, on this season of American Idol.  We literally watched this kid grow into a man, on stage.  Being vulnerable, telling his story of loss and how he basically rose like a phoenix from the ashes of Mt. Kīlauea in his home state of Hawaii. With Keith Urban, Jelly Roll and Lainey Wilson, the judges and other starts present – American voted – and it was Iam Tongi.  He’s special, like Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson special.

Now to the PGA Championship. Brooks Koepka won the PGA Championship, his 5th Major but that is not the story, that’s not what EVERYONE in the golf world is talking about.  Remember the name Michael Block.  Michael is the humble club pro who was outshooting a lot of the pros in the PGA championship.  At the end of the day, he needed to finish 15th or better to qualify to play in the 106th edition of this major next year. So, all he did was shoot a hole in one, 3 holes from the finish to seal a share of 15th place and $288,333 in prize money. And it wasn’t just a hit the green and roll in the cup hole in one….it was nothing but net, swish, a dunk, it went RIGHT IN THE HOLE. Now, to put the $288,333 in perspective with what he charges for an hour long lesson at the country club he works at, that’s 1,922 lessons.  Until yesterday, the most he had ever won in a tourmament was $75,000. That marked the first and last time he ever cried, until Sunday.  What a story, what a pure moment in sports
