One more day to the weekend – and there’s a lot to talk about, but in JJ’s “That’s Trending” I focus a little more on the ‘BIG 3’. The hottest, trending topics, that are dominating the conversation.
First, the Canada Wildfires: So far this year, 2000 fires have burned over Canada, covering 3-million hectacres – That’s about the size of Maryland. The pictures and satellite images give you better perspective of just how far reaching the fires and smoke are.
Almost one third of the U.S. is under air quality alerts. How bad is it? Well, the air quality index—which measures the concentration of microscopic particles able to bypass the body’s natural filters—in much of the Northeast surpassed official “hazardous” levels yesterday; New York City’s reached 413, the highest in the world.

Due to hundreds of uncontrolled wildfires across Canada, New York City looks like a post-apocalyptic hellscape.

Next, Netflix says, stay inside this summer if the air quality is bad
If you don’t want to leave the house because of the poor air quality, good news – Netflix is releasing a ton of content this summer. The streaming platform says it will release 45 movies in the summer of 2023, far surpassing the current record held by a streaming service for movie releases. The films slated for release range from romantic comedies to action thrillers and will feature some of Hollywood’s biggest names. The list includes Academy Award winners, Emmy nominees, and some of the most popular streaming stars in the world.
Finally, if you like wine, when you think wine, you probably think of California and it’s famous Napa Valley. Well, Australia says “Hold my Decanter”. The world’s biggest and most established wine competition just crowned 10 Australian wines best in show, more than any other country. So this weekend, go “down under” , “put another shrimp on the barbie” and raise a glass to the new “wine country” in town.
and THAT’S TRENDING!
