Sedgwick County officials have certified the results of the August 6th primary election.   Provisional ballots were counted Thursday and the election had a total of 23, 632 ballots that were cast, for a turnout of 10.2 percent.

Wichita mayor Jeff Longwell received 7,409 votes in his bid for re-election, and Kansas House member Brandon Whipple came in second with 6,067 votes.  Longwell captured 32.1 percent of the vote and Whipple had 26.3 percent, and they will advance to the November 5th general election.    WSU Tech board member Lindy Wells was third in the balloting with 5,770 votes, which was 25 percent of the vote.

For the at large school board seat in Wichita, Joseph Shepard received 5,452 votes for 32.9 percent.  Incumbent Sheril Logan had 4,925 votes for 29.8 percent, and they will move on to the November election.

The November ballot will also have three city council seats in Wichita and another school board race will be on the ballot.  Communities across Sedgwick County will have races for mayor, city council and school board seats.
