It’s the last full week of July and it’s going to be hot all week.  Triple digits most days.  So, other than the weather, here are the 5 things you need to know today.

1. Bye Bye Birdie. Elon Musk is challenging you Twitter users to help develop the platforms new logo.  Musk wants to do away with the bird and replace it with something to match his larger vision for the platform and his “X” company brand

2. It was the “bombshell” vs The Bomb and Barbie came out on top.  Barbie scored $155M in sales over the weekend, the highest domestic debut of a female directed movie, ever. It is so far, the largest opening weekend of any movie this year.  Don’t feel bad for Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” – it came in well ahead of expectations with just over $80M in sescond place.

3. No one wants to hear the word pandemic ever again, but new reports say the next pandemic could come from the U.S. meat supply chain due to the current “loose” regulations.

4. Last week’s $1B powerball jackpot was won in Los Angeles last week, but not by the woman who everyone saw on tv and online running into the store that sold the winning ticket, screaming “I won, I won” and hugging people.  Turns out she faked the whole thing. The real winner has yet to come forward.

5. And as questions continue to swirl around Carlee Russell and the truth behind her disappearance, one thing we know for sure that disappeared is her paycheck.  She has been fired from her job as it looks more and more likely that Carlee is not telling the truth about what really happened to her.  I hope she stocked up on Cheez-its.
