By the Associated Press and KFDI News:

Kansas 3rd District congresswoman Sharice Davids is supporting a formal impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump while avoiding using the term impeachment in a public statement.

The freshman Democrat tweeted Tuesday that she trusts relevant House committees to investigate and supports “this process continuing unimpeded.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi launched the inquiry into whether Trump abused his presidential powers by seeking help from Ukraine’s president to undermine Democratic opponent Joe Biden. A rough transcript of a summer phone call with the Ukrainian leader released Wednesday said Trump prodded him to investigate Biden and his son Hunter.

Davids represents a GOP-leaning Kansas City-area district and had resisted calls for impeaching Trump. But she said Monday that if Trump sought Ukraine’s help to investigate an opponent, it would be “a clear abuse of power.”

Kansas 4th District congressman Ron Estes issued a statement Tuesday saying that Democrats moved forward with the inquiry before even seeing the transcript of the President’s call.  Estes said,  “I believe starting an impeachment inquiry today is irresponsible and will only succeed in further dividing the American people.”   He said Congress needs to focus on priorities like the trade agreement with Canada and Mexico and accomplishing results for the American people.

2nd District congressman Steve Watkins made a similar comment in an email release:   This stunt shows that the Democrats care more about their own divisive stunts than they do about working together on issues that the American people care about.”
