People in Wichita and surrounding communities reported hearing a loud boom sound Saturday afternoon, but there is no word on the origin of the sound.

Wichita police said they had a number of reports of the noise and nothing has been found.  The sound was not an explosion.   People in Augusta and Cheney also reported hearing the sound shortly before 2 p.m.
