The American Red Cross is reporting a nationwide blood shortage, saying that there were fewer blood donations over the summer.

Hurricane Idalia caused a number of blood drives to be canceled, which reduced distributions of some of the most-needed blood types to hospitals.    Donors of all blood types are needed.

A number of blood drives have been scheduled across Kansas during September.  Donations can also be scheduled through the web site RedCrossBlood.org or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
