Today, JJ’s Star Spangled Salute honors disabled Army Veteran Edward “Flip” Klein.  In 2012, Edward was deployed to Afghanistan’s Kandahar Province as a company commander, he stepped on an IED during a dismounted patrol. The explosion resulted in the loss of both his legs above the knee, his right arm above the elbow, and three fingers on his left hand. Over 15 months and with the strength of his family he navigated recovery.  Currently, Klein enjoys winter sports and cycling endurance races. He says he’s learned two things: one, you can always take another step… admitting that’s more of a figurative idea for him than literal and two: most failure is between the ears. Thank you for inspiring with your story Edward and THANK YOU for your service.
