If you’ve listened to show for any length of time, you know I’ve said several times that “the English language is hard”. No, really! There are so many rules, words that sound the same and have 6 different meanings. It’s kind of like driving around Wichita and there are 6 different Murdock streets, you know I’m right.
Well, now thanks to the dictionary people of Merriam-Webster, therea are 690 new words that have been added to the dictionary.
The publisher recently released a select sample of the new additions, including several major food-related terms like “smashburger,” and “Chef’s kiss.” The slang term, “bussin'” has also been added, as have “zhuzh,” “stagiaire,” and “cheffy.”
The editor at Merriam-Webster says, “We’re very excited by this new batch of words. We hope there is as much insight and satisfaction in reading them as we got from defining them.”
