Ascension Via Christi now has a customized mobile mammography vehicle, and it will be used at several locations in Kansas starting this week.

The vehicle will offer 3D breast imaging screening exams at worksites and other locations in  theWichita, Manhattan and Pittsburg areas.   Its first stops will be at the three Wihcita acute care hospitals, St. Francis, St. Joseph and St. Teresa.

Ascension Via Christi’s director of oncology services, Keisha Humphries, said the goal is to increase participation in annual breast cancer screening exams by making them more convenient and accessible.

The 41-foot vehicle features a registration area, two self-contained private dressing rooms and an exam space, providing plenty of space for staff and patients.

The hospital currently offers screening on weekdays during regular business hours at its St. Teresa and St Joseph hospital campuses, and its clinics on Murdock and Founders Circle and its imaging centers in Manhattan and Pittsburg.

Information on where the mobile van will be located or hosting an on-site screening is available by calling 316-268-5890.
