Sheriff’s deputies and emergency responders from Sedgwick and Harvey counties have prepared a number of food baskets to deliver to families in need for the Christmas holidays.
A food packing event was held Wednesday at the Dillons distribution center in Goddard. The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office Benefit Fund held its annual food basket drive to provide 400 families with two boxes filled with various food products. The families were submitted by citizens and first responders, and the boxes were delivered by volunteers from Wichita and Sedgwick County agencies.
Harvey County deputies prepared food boxes for 225 families. Dillons provided a contribution of $8,500 toward the purchase and supplies, along with the use of the facility in Goddard.
