The Kansas Highway Patrol has started a two-week seat belt enforcement campaign in a partnership with other law enforcement agencies in Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.
The Seat Belts are For Everyone (SAFE) campaign will run through March 8th. Troopers and other law enforcement officers will be focusing on drivers and passengers around high schools to raise awareness of safety and the importance of wearing seat belts.
The KHP superintendent, Colonel Erik Smith, said in a press release that seat belts have been proven to save lives and prevent injuries, and he’s urging drivers to slow down, put distractions away, and adopt safe driving behaviors that can help prevent crashes on Kansas roadways.
