The most important thing you need to know (if you want to have a chance at winning Jelly Roll tickets) another key word is being announced today and all this week.  Now, here are 5 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW in today’s THAT’S TRENDING

1. President Joe Biden says he is optimistic that a cease fire in the months long war between Israel and Hamas could come as early as next week.

2. The Wichita Board of Education held a 3rd and final meeting last night on the topic of prioritizing people over places and closing schools in an effort to offset the $42M budget shortfall.  Closing the 6 schools on the list would save the city $16M

3. The US Federal Trade Commission and nine states have sued to block supermarket chain Kroger’s $25B acquisition of competitor Albertsons yesterday, arguing the move would raise prices, lower wages, and reduce competition in the industry. The proposed deal, first announced in 2022 by Kroger, parent company of Dillon’s, would be the largest in the supermarket chain’s history.

4. One person’s “surge pricing” is another person’s money grab and exploitation of the fundamentals of capitalism – supply and demand. Wendy’s is set to introduce “Dynamic Pricing” which means if you want to go to Wendy’s during peak hours of breakfast, lunch or dinner, you’ll pay more. Wendy’s new President and CEO Kirk Tanner says,“Beginning as early as 2025, we will begin testing more enhanced features like dynamic pricing and daypart offerings along with AI-enabled menu changes and suggestive selling.”

5. And….competitors showed up in large numbers in tank tops and cutoff shorts, for a showdown with games like evading police and wrestling over beer in an Olympic style competition. Promoted as “the most insane athletic showdown on Earth,” the Florida Man Games poke fun at the state’s reputation for bizarre stories that involve brawling, drinking, gunfire, reptile wrangling and other antics carrying a risk of time in jail or intensive care
