Boeing’s CEO is stepping down. The company issued a statement this morning confirming that Dave Calhoun would be departing at the end of the year.
The announcement comes along with word that several other senior leaders have also decided to part ways with Boeing in the wake of a slew of negative stories, starting with a door panel blowing out on a Boeing 737 Max plane back in January.
Boeing board chairman Larry Kellner will not stand for re-election at the company’s upcoming annual shareholders meeting. Board member Steve Mollenkopf, the former CEO of Qualcomm and a Boeing board member since 2020, will replace Kellner and lead the company’s search for its next CEO. In addition, Boeing CEO Stan Deal with the company’s Commercial Airplanes segment has announced he will retire.
