UPDATE: Investigators said an improperly disposed cigarette is the cause of the fire early Monday at a southeast Wichita apartment complex. The left 11 people injured.
The fire broke out around 2 a.m. Monday at the Park Meadows apartments in the 1100 block of East Boston, near Harry and Webb Road. Crews found flames coming from the second floor of an apartment building, and they used ladders to help get people out, also though some people jumped to safety. The fire was contained to the second floor.
Six people were treated at the scene and five others were taken to hospitals.
